Instructions on how to change the view of your pivots so that they are represented in multiple columns and rows.
When opening a PivotTable, the common excel default view is 'Compact Form'. See below image for example:
Excel Pivot common default view - Compact Form
PivotTables will usually default to opening in the Compact Form.
Whilst this view allows the user to expand and collapse the attributes, it is not the ideal view when used for pivots with multiple values and attributes.

To change an existing pivot to view in 'Tabular Form'
Click in the pivot and from the top ribbon, select
Design | Report Layout | Show in Tabular Form

The view will now be in the below format - across multiple columns:

Default all excel pivots to open to a 'Tabular Form' layout
Follow the below instructions to change the view so that all excel pivots open directly in the Tabular Form view:
Click:
File | Options | Data | Edit Default Layout
- Change report layout to 'show in Tabular Form'
- Change the Subtotals to 'do not show subtotals' (this can always be added back in at the level you wish to see it, but as a default, the recommended option is to not show them).
