What is the difference between Returns and Net Returns

Distinguish between Return values and Net Return Values

Returns

Defined as the Sales $ over a defined calendar period, where any line in a sales transactions includes a negative transaction.

I.e. Sales $ where Is Return is 'Y'

Here you can see every negative Sale $ is a 'Return $'

Net Returns

Defined as the Sales $ where the net sales value of the docket number is negative after returns and exchanges.

There is a flag found under Sales Attributes called "Is Net Return" which enables you to easily filter your pivot to net return sales data only.

I.e. Sales $ where Is Net Return is 'Y'

In the below example, the value of the return for style 2 is cancelled out by the exchange from size S to XS, the overall net return value is only the sum of return of style 1 and Style 3.

Returns $ include Style 2 in it's return value.

If the exchange is for a lesser value item, then the net sales value after the return is the Net Return $ value, where as the Return $ is the total value of the returned item.

Where to find the filters

The below filters are found under Sales or Sales Retail

They are under Sales Retail Attributes found further down below the Retail values.

These can be used to filter your report to only returns or only net returns.
