Why does my GL stock value at cost differ from the Historical CSOH value at cost

Stock @ Cost in the GL will almost always differ from CSOH Cost in the Stock module.

There are a few reason why GL and historical stock may not match:

• They are different systems GL v Stock

• There may be differing exclusions applied to each module

• CSOH Cost includes in transit stock - GL may not.

• Stock Module will retrospectively change the cost of history if a change to cost is made today
• GL locks the cost for that point in time

• Different timings of running the report

Solution

• The value will be the closest when comparing these fields at the same time for that point in time.
• As such, run both reports for the below fields first thing in the morning before any activity in the systems.
  • GL Stock @ Cost
  • Current Book Stock @ Cost
    • Book stock does not include in transit
    • value is as per the most recent update in the system (cannot be viewed historically)
