How to set your pivot to 'Refresh data when opening the file'
'Refresh on Opening' is a pivot function which is useful to ensure your report is always displaying the most recent data.
There are 2 ways to set the refresh on opening:
- apply the refresh to the cube connection, thereby refreshing all pivots using that connection.
- apply the refresh to a selected pivot only
Refresh cube connection on opening
- Click into a blank cell outside of the pivot table
- Select: Data | Queries & Connections - Your connections will now appear on the right

- right click into your connection and select 'Properties'

- Connection Properties box will pop up - tick the box 'Refresh data when opening the file'.
- OK

Refresh single pivot on opening
- Right click in the pivot you want to refresh on opening and select the 'PivotTable Options'

- the PivotTable Options box will pop up
- Select the 'Data' tab and tick the box 'Refresh data when opening the file'
- OK
