How to set your pivot to 'Refresh data when opening the file'

'Refresh on Opening' is a pivot function which is useful to ensure your report is always displaying the most recent data.

There are 2 ways to set the refresh on opening:

1. apply the refresh to the cube connection, thereby refreshing all pivots using that connection.
2. apply the refresh to a selected pivot only

Refresh cube connection on opening

• Click into a blank cell outside of the pivot table
• Select: Data | Queries & Connections - Your connections will now appear on the right

• right click into your connection and select 'Properties'

• Connection Properties box will pop up - tick the box 'Refresh data when opening the file'.
• OK

Refresh single pivot on opening

• Right click in the pivot you want to refresh on opening and select the 'PivotTable Options'

• the PivotTable Options box will pop up
• Select the 'Data' tab and tick the box 'Refresh data when opening the file'
• OK
